“Citazioni Pratiche”: Fornasetti at Palazzo Altemps

The collection of sculptures and the spaces of Palazzo Altemps – courtyard, frescoed rooms, theater – are compared with twenty-seven artistic incursions from over eight hundred pieces of Fornasetti.

From room to room the themes of the classic, of the ruins and of the antiquities, refer to an unexpected and irreverent exchange, cultured and wise, between the permanent collection of ancient art of the museum and the creations born of unbridled imagination and surrealist invention of Fornasetti.

Drawings, furniture, accessories for the production of Atelier Fornasetti, from the 1930s to today, revealing itself as something more than simple decorated objects: “an invitation to imagination, a thought”, as Piero himself, the company’s founder, used to say. An avenue for imagination, which leads back to the original soul of Palazzo Altemps.
